Potsdam Kiwanis Club appreciates, recognizes local supporters

To the Editor:

The Kiwanis Club of Potsdam, NY recognizes and appreciates the support and contributions from local merchants, organizations and members during the Annual Potsdam Festival Days July 9th thru July 11th.

This annual event helps our local Kiwanis Club’s fundraiser to support scholarships awarded to a worthy Potsdam High School Senior Graduate seeking advanced education in a certified business school, college or university.

Selling fried dough, water, soft drinks and fresh popcorn under a white tent on Market Street and at Ives Park during the showing of a featured movie, “Paddington” on Friday evening was only one of the many projects that the members of the Kiwanis Club of Potsdam are involved in, yearly.

Without the donations and support of the local merchants, organizations and tiring efforts on behalf of Kiwanis members, and most importantly the support of Potsdam area communities, our scholarship program might not become effective as it is.

The Kiwanis Club of Potsdam embraces each contributor listed with a big, “Thank you!”

The Birches, Hannawa Falls; Chips Grocery, Hannawa Falls, NBT Bank, Potsdam; Price Chopper, Potsdam; Ponderosa, Potsdam; Burger King, Potsdam; ACE Hardware, Potsdam; Total Image, Potsdam; Roxy Theater, Potsdam; Potsdam Fire Department, Potsdam; Boy Scouts of America Troop 77, Potsdam; The Presbyterian Church of Canton and Pepsi Cola Distributors of Ogdensburg.

Kudos also go to the Kiwanis members and volunteers who spent numerous hours setting up and/or cooking fried dough, making fresh popcorn and serving ice cold beverages.

They are: Bill & Susan Barrett, Timothy Virgil, Richard “Rick” Fancher, Victoria Strack, Stephanie Stark, Joann Gilbo, Henry W. Walters, and Edward Sachs.

In addition, youth members of the Builders Club and Key Club and their parents took turns manning the fried dough cooker, popcorn machine and serving customers. They are: Verena Jones and daughter Mia, Sarah Austin and daughters Lydia and Grace, Jim Judd and grandson Cameron Harbart, Bill Perkins and son Colby Perkins, Sarah Simmons and daughter Caitlyn, Kimberly Busch and son Michael, Chris Johnson and his two sons Brandon and Andrew; Melissa Cummings and daughters Sierra, Shawna and son Zach, Coreen Bohl and son Noah, Jenny Zhang and Kathy Yu, Beth and Matt Robinson, Simon Bullwinkle, Shelia Kingston and Chris Jones.
