To the Editor:
The Health Initiative recently hosted a Bike Rodeo at Outer Market Mania during the Potsdam Summer Festival.
A Bike Rodeo is a fun bicycle skills event that provides an opportunity for bicyclists to practice and develop skills that help them to avoid accidents and become safer bicyclists. Forty youth ages 4 through 14 attended the event and learned important safety skills.
Thanks to the St. Lawrence County Traffic Safety Program, the Potsdam Village Police Department, Potsdam Central School, Wear on Earth, and the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce for their support and partnership in this program. The Bike Rodeo would not have happened without their commitment and strong support.
In particular, Mary Davison, Chief Kevin Bates, Officer Kyle Fink, Officer Clint Perrigo, Danielle Grant, Mike Klein, Janice Adderley and Marylee Ballou offered tremendous support and assistance in making this event a huge success.
With the generous support provided by those above, we are encouraged that there are a greater number of North Country youth practicing appropriate bicycle safety.
