The Potsdam Central School Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize and honor the outstanding accomplishments of individual athletes, coaches, teams, as well as individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Potsdam Central School sports programs.
The PCS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has held an induction ceremony every year since 2004. At a recent meeting of the committee, it was decided that an induction ceremony would not be held in September of 2017. Several factors were considered in making this decision. First of all, a PCS Mega Reunion is being planned for August of 2017.
The committee felt that because of this event, it may be difficult for alumni to return twice and this could affect the attendance of a 2017 Hall of Fame weekend. Secondly, many of the committee members have been involved since the inception of the Hall of Fame and are now ready to move on to other endeavors or to retire.
Over the next year the committee will have meetings to discuss reorganization, recruitment of new committee members, fundraising, the process for nomination and selection of future inductees, and planning the Hall of Fame weekend activities. The PCS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is actively seeking individuals who are interested and willing to help out in these activities.
All past inductees of the PCS Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as former athletes and community members interested in PCS athletics are strongly encouraged to become involved. Anyone who is willing to donate their time, please join us at the next PCS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Potsdam Elks’ Lodge.
