Point proven about response to Pokemon Go, says Canton resident

To the Editor:

There have been a couple responses to my letter “Response to Pokemon Go Sums up Attitudes in North Country,” congratulations on reinforcing the points I made.

The Sound Off "Get Up and Go" suggests that I should simply move away from the area or quit complaining. It is almost like I said something along the lines of people here being bitter, and what do I get? A bigoted and bitter response of "You don't like it here, get out!"

Then we have the letter “There Are No Issues With Attitudes of North Country Resident,” from a small-time local politician who, of course, drones on about how much he loves the area and how people tell him how great it is.

You mean to tell me that people passing through don't tell you to your face that your area sucks and that people are rude? Shocker!

Ever heard of a little thing called the internet? Take a look at it sometime and read some reviews of local businesses (gotta hurry though because they put themselves out of business so fast it is hard to keep up!).

A huge part of the reason businesses fail here isn't because you don't have the opportunity for cash to flow, it is because business owners and employees are rude, arrogant, and most out-of-towners would rather spend money at a big chain than deal with rude locals.

Also well done reinforcing my comments about the general ignorance when it comes to Pokemon GO! You describe it as a "children's game." The target demographic for the game however is age 18-32, cell phone owners with the capability to complete multiple micro-transactions (credit card/payment method required).

Whew! That would have taken a whole five minutes to look into, but instead you wrote a knee-jerk reaction letter because your feelings were hurt that someone doesn't love your North Country as much as you do and isn't turning a blind eye to the bitter, sad, and apparently narcissistic people who live there.
