To the Editor:
This year our perennial plant annual fundraiser joined the “Strut Your Mutt “event on May 6 at the Sandstone Arena, Potsdam organized by Alysia Maynard.
The proceeds of the sale will be split this year. $807 will be donated to the Potsdam Humane Society for the care and comfort of the dogs and cats under their care and $150 to renovate planters downtown and fill them with flowers.
Eleanor Hopke and Lou Ann Lange have organized the latter.
The Clarkson Garden Club and the Potsdam Garden Club would like to thank Kevin and Jennifer Blanchard of Willow Tree Florists for their donation of a lovely hanging basket of tropical pink New Guinea Impatiens and trailing purple Calibrachoas for the raffle prize.
In addition, we would like to thank Daryl Kolanko of Potsdam Agway for the three flats of fragrant red and white verbena, light purple sorbet coconut swirl and penny blue violas which gave such a boost of early color to the display in Sandstone Arena. Lots of club members and local residents took part in digging perennials, starting seeds and helping setting up the event.
