To the Editor:
The Northern New York Freedom Fighters will be attending the June 1 public hearing on the proposed “Local Law ‘E’, Defining the Term ‘Proper Cause’ as Found in Penal Law § 400.00(2)(f) regarding Licenses to Carry, Possess, Repair and Dispose of Firearms.”
We rallied, marched, protested, wrote letters, and campaigned for individuals that would support the 2nd Amendment. If you noticed “we the people” threw the bums out. We now have a county legislature that respects the 2nd Amendment and is working for us.
I strongly encourage every citizen of St. Lawrence Co. to attend this public hearing as a show of support for the 2nd Amendment and the legislators that are respecting and working for us. Hundreds showed up to protest the SAFE ACT and we were ignored. It is reasonable to expect hundreds to show up to show support.
The hearing will be in the legislative chambers, June 1, at 6 p.m.
St. Lawrence County Legislature has introduced a proposal seeking to resolve longstanding issues regarding the issuance of pistol licenses in St. Lawrence County.
Conflicting court decisions have not clarified whether citizens applying for pistol licenses are required to demonstrate some unique need in order to receive a full carry concealed license without restrictions,
Pistol permit restrictions in St. Lawrence Co. are based on the phrase proper cause found in § 400.00 (2)(f) of the NYS Penal Law
Currently, applicants seeking a carry conceal pistol license must demonstrate extraordinary personal danger documented by proof of recurrent threats to life or safety in order to have an unrestricted license issued.
This local law would require the issuing officer to define the reasons a citizen should not be issued a conceal pistol permit
See you there in Canton June 1.
