To the Editor:
On Labor Day, Amvets Post 4 provided a five-man color guard to lead the parade.
I marched as right guard and was extremely impressed by the turnout but even more impressed by the number of people that saluted, held their hands over their hearts or stood as the colors passed.
Even the majority of the children stood silent as we passed. This is an indication to me that patriotism and Americanism are still alive and well.
Thank you all for your reverence to the symbol of our nation.
