To the Editor:

There has been a lot said about the proposed wind towers in Hopkinton and Parishville, both pro and con. After doing much research on the subject, I believe our towns and environment will benefit from the energy they produce. Our planet is in need of all the help it can get.

Being a leaseholder doesn’t mean I don’t care about the environment. Many studies by both our government agencies (U.S. National Health Academy of Science, U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the World Health Organization) to name a few, have shown wind power to be clean, safe and renewable.

Over 75 peer-reviewed studies and reports have shown that wind energy development will not result in any negative health or safety impacts.

Unlike solar panels, wind turbines will still allow the land around them to be used and can be recycled at the end of their usefulness.

While wind power won’t solve all our environmental problems, they do cut down on greenhouse gases.

The money it will bring in will help our local communities, county and state finances. While construction jobs during the build phase will be temporary, they will bring in additional revenues to the area.

We are an economically depressed area that could use all the help it can get. We have lost major employers in the last few years, along with the revenue and jobs they generated.

To say we don’t need this project is foolhardy.
