Opinion: 'War on Christmas' is attack on liberty, says Brasher Falls man

To the Editor:

Here we are zeroing in on the Christmas season again. With all the cheer and good times comes the eternal war on Christmas.

Why the war on Christmas, one might ask. I once had a professor of a political science class, in discussing the connection between religion and government, say that a belief in God is a belief in yourself and a belief in yourself is a belief in God.

The war on Christmas is just one battlefield in the attempt of progressives [read anti-Liberty establishment] to destroy Christianity thereby weakening the people’s belief in themselves and making liberty less attractive.

In order to establish a progressive dream totalitarian government, guns have to be removed from honest people, the flow of factual information must be stopped (the left stream media is doing this real well) and the people’s faith in themselves must be undermined so that state dependency grows.

The progressive dream of maybe ending the scourge of liberty in the next four years has just been dealt a terrific blow by the people during the last election. Expect redoubled leftist hate speech and action against Christmas and all American institutions and values.

It is a hoot to hear the progressives calling Mr. Trump a Fascist while they are in the streets emulating Facists by beating up Trump voters, burning and wrecking whole city blocks and burning the flag.

Long live liberty. Merry Christmas.
