Vote line "A" for fiscal responsibility and fairness principle Nov. 6 in Canton's three St. Lawrence County Legislative District races: vote for Mike Hammond in District 3; Kaitlin Tyndall in District 8; and Dan Fay in District 9.

Acres and Lightfoot led fight for legislative pay raises.

Ruth Doyle (Republican county administrator) and Renee Cole (Democratic county treasurer) deserve credit for making our county legislative budget more fiscally sound and fair to taxpayers.

Yet St. Lawrence County Legislative Chair Kevin Acres, Republican running in District 8, and County legislative Vice Chair, Republican running in District 3, both need to be defeated for their irresponsible lead in fighting for $3,000 raises for themselves and for all the other part-time legislator civil servants.

Acres and Lightfoot also fought embarrassingly hard for full health care benefits for the part-timers in this, the poorest of poor counties out of all 62 counties in New York State. Walmart part-time employees do not receive health care benefits.

Dan Fay outspoken against legislative pay raises. Business owner and SUNY Canton faculty leader, Dan Fay, as the Village of Canton's responsible and outspoken incumbent county legislator in District 9, was livid when he ran up against the raises pushed by Acres and Lightfoot.

Even though Dan has no opposition in the election, our vote for him will show our appreciation for his principled and correct stand for the voters, the poor and not for politics as usual these days.

Every vote counts in this off year. Young and old of all persuasions need to get out and vote for transparent and honest candidates Tyndall, Hammond, and Fay locally.

And remember hard-working Tedra Cobb needs your vote on line "A" in the critical, 21st District Congressional race. Just be sure family, friends, students, and new voters do the same Nov. 6.
