To the Editor:
My name is Rebecca Dufour and I have been a resident of Potsdam since 1974. Early this September, I retired from Canton-Potsdam Hospital after working there as a registered nurse for forty-one years. In short order, I realized that I am interested in continuing my service to this community. With this letter, I am announcing my candidacy as a write-in candidate for the trustee vacancy on the village board of Potsdam.
With my retirement, I can say now that I have the time and ability to give back to this community. After working many years as a nurse, I've discovered that you just don't stop caring. Like many others, I view Potsdam as a North Country leader in education and culture. I would like to be a contributor, not only to maintaining, but also growing this community. As a taxpayer, I am aware of the challenges we face in Potsdam. It is time for me to try to be a part of the team working to find solutions to these issues. As a Trustee, I would have the opportunity to work for solutions.
In terms of qualifications, most importantly, I have the time and concern to serve Potsdam residents. In the past, I have worked at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital in management and staff positions. Within the community, I have been a member of Emergency Medical Services Advisory Boards at the county, regional and state levels. These activities have provided me with background and familiarity with management and the operations of government.
My life in Potsdam is full and rewarding. I am willing to work hard in service to the residents of Potsdam with the goal of improving life and prosperity for all of us.
In closing, I encourage the voters of the Village of Potsdam to participate in our democratic process by voting on Tuesday November 7, 2017.
Please support the trustees running for election; Steven Warr and Abby Lee. Thank you for your consideration of my candidacy for village trustee. I would be grateful for your write in vote on Nov. 7 for the position of trustee on the Potsdam Village Board.
