Opinion: Town justice candidate is honest, ethical and caring, says Nicholville resident

To the Editor:

I would like to show my support for Michael Morgan for Canton town justice.

I have known Michael Morgan for over 20 years and prior to my retirement I have had the privilege to have been his supervisor with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office – road patrol division.

As Mike’s supervisor, I can easily say that Mike is one the most honest, ethical and public caring officer’s I have ever known.

Mike was a very intelligent and effective officer who had a big heart. Mike was professional and preferred to calmly discuss situations and incidents with the public to better educate them to the ongoing situation at hand.

In fact, when I retired and was asked to direct the local police academy, one of the very first police instructors I reached out to help teach our new police cadets was Mike Morgan.

I felt by exposing the young officers to such a polite, public orientated, police veteran like Mike, that the cadets would better understand that police work is really community policing and taking care of the public.

I firmly believe that having a person who has a history of making the right decisions in tough situations like Mike Morgan has done in his 20 years as a county police officer, will make him an excellent Judge for Canton.

I think Canton will benefit very well should they elect Michael Morgan as their next judge.
