The St. Lawrence County Legislature opposes a state Senate plan to check gun owners’ social media accounts before issuing or renewing a pistol permit.
Intrusive? Yes.
Invasion of privacy? Probably.
But after a mass shooting, investigators immediately begin to scour perpetrators’ social media accounts for clues as to why the shooting occurred.
Wouldn’t it be better to identify those clues before people are killed?
