My name is Chad Colbert and I am the current county legislator for district 11, covering Stockholm and part of Potsdam.

While it is true the state of the county finances is significantly better than it was four years ago and I do think the board of legislators does deserve some credit for that. However, I cannot emphasize enough the contribution of the county staff in turning things around.

Led by Ruth Doyle and her budget team, our county department heads and employees are the backbone of the great success this county has seen thus far.

It is my philosophy that as the governing body of St Lawrence County that the board of legislators’ responsibilities includes setting policy and direction, getting the right people on the team, and then getting out the way and letting them do their job. We have wonderful department heads and good employees.

During this election season I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to our county department heads and staff for the financial success our county has experienced.
