To the Editor:
Did you know each day your child misses school they lose out on six hours of academic instruction? This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is the gift of an education and the habit of attendance.
Our wonderful teachers, support staff, and volunteers at Massena Central pour their energy into making each classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge, so our children do not want to miss coming to school and learning.
Every year absences spike in the days before and after a vacation as families squeeze in a few more days off. It is time to break that cycle!
Just a few missed days here and there, even if they are excused absences, can add up to a significant loss of learning time. This is just as true in Kindergarten as it is high school.
So make sure your child is in school every day right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching and our students will be learning.
Thank you to our students and families for making daily attendance a priority.
