Opinion: Rensselaer Falls resident wonders why Tribe needs tax money following deal?

Regarding the article “Deal Could Earn tribe $15 million per year” which appeared on the front page of the Sept. 16-22 issue of North Country This Week, I pose this question: Why are they receiving tax money form HUD for housing improvements, when they just signed a multi-million dollar contract with drug company Allergan?

The tribe will be receiving almost 14 million right off the bat, with a guaranteed contract of 15 million a year in royalties.

Surely the St. Regis tribe can now solve their housing issues for their poor, with those millions of dollars, without needing our tax dollars, right?
