To the Editor:
I would like to thank all of my family, friends and neighbors for the huge outpouring of support I’ve experienced over the last four weeks, since I announced my decision to run a write-in campaign for the vacant Village of Potsdam trustee position.
I want to thank everyone for supporting me in everything I’ve tried to do over the last three years. I didn’t know how to make a concert series, but I did it. I didn’t know how to start a weekly dinner group, but I did it. I didn’t know how to be on a board, but I joined the board of the co-op and have been learning ever since. I didn’t know I could ever be a good enough violinist to play in a semi-professional orchestra, but I worked hard, and I did it. I didn’t know how to raise two little kids, and I still don’t really, but I’m learning more and more each day with my greatest supporter, my husband Matt McKenna.
But in my 28 years on this earth, I’ve learned that working for the betterment of my family, my tribe of friends, and my community is what is most important to me. I look forward to continuing to learn as I go. I hope that this Election Day my neighbors will write me in, but if they don’t, that’s alright too. I know I will work harder next time, and I will continue to do everything I can for this place that I will forever call home.
