Opinion: Potsdam Chamber of Commerce says businesses improved curb appeal

The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce thanks the many individuals and businesses that contributed to our beautification project.

The first endeavor for the project was returning the twenty flower containers to the streets of downtown Potsdam. They were put in place on Friday June 9 by the wonderful Village Public Works crew. They will also be handling the watering of the pots this summer.

We appreciate the hard work that Willow Tree Florist did in getting the pots planted and Potsdam Agway for donating our small “thank you” pots that donor businesses will put on display. We also thank Commercial Press for designing and creating our project sticker.

Many individuals or neighborhood groups donated. Those include: The Chicks, The Dead End Divas, Sally & James Lynch, Pam & Steve Yurgartis, Beth Grace, Patty & Gary Bennett, Barbara Burcume, Sharon Williams & Dr. Andrew Williams, Jane Lammers, Karen & Tony Collins, Boris Loushin & Eugenia Tsarov, and Christina Muller in Memory of Potsdam Lion Barbara Males.

Donations were also made by the following businesses: Community Bank, Ponderosa, First Crush, Potsdam Food Co-op, iCaspar Web Development, What a Raquette Music, and Alisa G Woods, PhD, LMHC Counseling.

We will continue to look for ways to improve the curb appeal of our town, and are open to suggestions from businesses and the public.

Marylee E. Ballou
