On Sept. 13, the day of the Democratic Primary, the polls were closed in Norwood. Many people mistakenly went to the polls in Norwood and did not then go to the polls in Potsdam to vote.
My fellow board member, Jim Grant, who lives in Norwood, was defeated by a newcomer, Ms. Kennedy.
I believe if the polls had been open in Norwood, Jim, who was born and raised in Norwood, would have won. I have nothing bad to say about Ms. Kennedy, as I do not know her. If ultimately she wins the election, I will be happy to work with her.
I am writing this letter because the loss of Jim on the board will be incalculable. Jim is the only member of the board who knows anything about heavy equipment. We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on heavy equipment. Jim has worked for the railroad for almost 15 years, many of these years in a supervisory position.
All the board members have important skill sets, but none of us has his special skill set.
Jim takes his job very seriously. He visits the town barns several times a week and is current on all that is going on there, and present and future needs.
On Nov. 6 the polls will be open in Norwood and Potsdam. I ask you to write in James Grant;s name for town councilman.
