Opinion: Parishville-Hopkinton Central BOE candidate says she offers education, life experience

To the Editor:

My name is Amy Guiney and I am running for a position on the Parishville-Hopkinton School board. My husband and I have been residents of Hopkinton for the past 15 years and we have three children who attend the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District in grades 2, 6 and 8.

As the director of field experiences and teacher certification at SUNY Potsdam, I am committed to and passionate about education and the future of our children. I feel it takes a team that includes the community, staff and educators working together to build collaborative relationships by using effective communication.

Together we can strive to achieve our goals by supporting each other and providing new opportunities for our children.

I am an active member of the Parishville Area Recreation Club (PARC) and have volunteered to coach our children’s soccer, basketball and softball teams over the past 10 years. As a PARC member, I’ve also assisted with planning, organizing and volunteering at other events such as PARC days and Rock and Skates.

With that said, I am a life-long learner who embraces challenges and thinks outside the box.

I am an active listener who is excited at the opportunity to share some experiences from my current position and be a part of the team by serving on the Parishville-Hopkinton School board.

I appreciate your support and look forward to your vote on May 16.
