To the Editor:
I just read the results of the "Do you plan to vote in the general election on Nov. 7?" survey.
In general, there are some pretty astute and honest comments there and I offer kudos to these pro-active thinkers and their patriotism.
Unfortunately there were some ignorant statement too, but...that's okay; it's a free country and saying what you think is protected.
Unfortunately though, I am pretty sure I see a lot of multiple responses from the same people! Some are almost identical with only a few words changed, and others are just so similar that it would be very unusual for unrelated people to make such closely aligner comments.
I know it's easy to do because I've accidentally done it a couple of times myself.
All you need is to have your IP change and it's not known that you've already posted something. Or, just go to another computer and you get another chance to make another entry because apparently of the different IP for that computer.
I don't like this method of cheating and would like to see if something can be done about it. It's actually a simple process since much more than just an IP is publicly available to check on whether a post has been made more than once from the same person.
There isn't room to describe it here, but it's simple, and easy to code for.
