To the Editor:
We have lived in the township of Parishville since 1944. We were working at physical labor when we were 5-6 years old. We had our own chores to do every day that helped our parents.
We enjoyed doing those chores and we wanted to do them, they kept us busy and kept us from getting bored. We did todays chores manually back then – not by pushing buttons etc. and we have enjoyed the whole journey.
We lifted 100 pound bales of hay, 100 lb. bags of fertilizer, heavy milk cans and so on -- but we have tons of fond memories of our family working together!
We have paid thousands of dollars in taxes through the years! Now we are in our 70’s and have a chance to get some of those dollars back.
Unlike a lot of these people we have heard who are opposed to the wind farm who say or think they are country. We have earned the right to use our land as we see fit. You are damn right that we can use the money!
This community has many other unpleasant things, huge manure pits, liquid manure spread on land and in many places seeping into water sources You can see silo roofs everywhere, all the forest are rapidly being cut down – this is not raw nature. We live with these things and in the long run they don’t affect our lives.
I would say most of these reasons opposing the wind turbines are just jealousy from those that aren’t or don’t need or have a chance to get any of this income. We have done our share to help our community – we have a right to ask for something back!
