To the Editor:
As one who returns to the Norwood on the Fourth of July, I would like to congratulate Robert Haggett, who was parade organizer for many years for being selected as a special award recipient during the parade. Bob is very deserving of this honor.
The Norwood Fire Department, its officers and parade committee are to be congratulated for their organization and production of this year’s parade. With the exception of an emergency during the parade, everything ran like clockwork and the units moved in a timely manner. All organizations of the community and neighboring communities, businesses fire departments and other units are to be again to be congratulated for adhering to the theme as well as making it patriotic.
I am not sure who the announcer was but he kept everyone informed of what was coming and gave various details.
It shows how working together can make a project such as this one very efficient.
Hopefully next year the use of lights and sirens on trucks an ambulances will as a real emergency occurred and those units following the incident make for some confusion with the use of their sirens and lights as it made it seem that perhaps another emergency had occurred.
Great kudos to all involved and it is the reason that so many return year after year for this event.
