Opinion: Family of sick Potsdam boy thanks community for jamboree support

Posted

Since Jonathan was diagnosed with cancer last October, we always knew we had support from our friends, family and community, but on Sept. 9, the day of Jonathan’s Jamboree, it was certainly clear.

To see everyone come together all at once, it was certainly overwhelming, humbling and very appreciated. That day was very special and filled with emotions. We feel so blessed to live in this community.

Our family cannot thank everyone enough for all that you have done for us. We appreciate everyone’s time, dedication and support to make this all happen.

We would like to thank all the businesses and organizations who donated. Thank you to all the bands who donated their time.

Thank you to all the people who donated gift baskets, baked goods, food, their time, monetary funds or simply just attended to show your support. We are so grateful for all of your contributions.

We would like to give an extra special thank you to Sharon Miller, Jackie Willmart, Lynn Tharrett and Amy Narrow for making it all happen. You all came together and made this day unforgettable.

Jonathan still has a long journey ahead of him. Being able to set aside some financial worries with the donated money and gift cards brings such comfort. It is because of you that we can take the time to focus on Jonathan’s health and not have to worry about the financial stress.

Words cannot express how truly grateful we are for your generosity, support and love during this difficult time. We are so blessed. Again, thank you!

Amy, Jon, Jonathan and Gavin Thompson
