To the Editor:

Regarding the Oct. 29-Nov. 4 article “Gun Crimes Report Most Used in SLC from Out-of-state,” we don’t need Eric Schniederman and U.S. Sen. Kirsten to demand more strict federal and state gun trafficking legislation.

What we need is the thousands of gun laws already on the books to be enforced. President Obama this last August granted of clemency to over 200 felons, 50 of which who also were in prison for criminal gun possession. Many criminals arrested with firearms seldom get charged with the fullest penalties.

So what is the point of yet more gun laws, if the ones on the books are not applied? The only purpose for this so-called “rallying cry” is to further infringe upon the rights of honest citizens to buy and own firearms by incurring more red tape and costs. I say enough.

Throw the book at criminals who use firearms in the commission of a crime, and stop burdening reasonable and honest gun owners with yet more restrictions.

If our politicians and anti-gun advocates are truly concern with the availability of guns, then they should start with our own government. The Pentagon and CIA are currently providing arms to Syrian rebels, who instead of fighting Assad, are only fighting each other with US weapons to settle old feuds. The US is currently the number one seller of weapons around the world.

Rather hypocritical to decry the about private firearm ownership when our elected politicians arms everyone else on the the globe, paid by our tax dollars. If anyone needs to practice gun control, its our own government.
