Opinion: Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ in Massena mourning Pittsburgh deaths

Posted

We at Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ in Massena, mourn the deaths of our Jewish brothers and sisters recently in Pittsburgh.

The teachings of Christ advocate for radical inclusivity and outreach to those marginalized by society because of ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, poverty, immigration status, etc.

We stand with, and for any and all who are targets of hate and violence because of racism and bigotry. We believe that each human being is made in God’s image and likeness (Gen. 1:26) and declare that such hateful actions as we have witnessed in our country is a brutal denial of the image God in some of the children of God.

We stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters at this time of great sorrow, condemning all actions and words of violence aimed at the Jewish community.

May their memories be a blessing to all.
