To the Editor:
In response to “Student Debt Grows From Irresponsible Tax Cuts” which appeared in the Nov. 16-22 issue of North Country This Week: the writer blames student debt on tax cuts for the rich and businesses. What about the extravagant spending on college campuses: $40 million sports complexes and music theaters.
He complains he is enduring stagnating wages.
I wonder what his wages are total. Salary, benefits, retirement, health insurance, free use of multi-million dollar sports facilities.
How many days a year do professors have off? Including weekends, holidays and summer break…probably well over 100.
If your wages are so stagnant maybe you could get a second job on those 100 days like so many of us have to.
On your mention of voodoo economics that don’t work, I can agree with you.
For example the voodoo economics Gov. Cuomo used to spend millions of dollars of taxpayers money.
The $25 million he funneled threw a local college to save jobs at the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake. A private company.
I am all for a quality education for all Americans at a reasonable cost, but I have trouble agreeing with your reasoning and have more trouble feeling sorry for your stagnant wages.
