Opinion: Costs for elderly could rise by 750 percent, says Potsdam resident

To the Editor:

I am disgusted by Elise Stefanik's decision to vote in favor of the American Healthcare Act.

Given the last CBO score, this bill will be harmful for the people of the North Country. It estimated that costs for the elderly could go up as much as 750 percent, with insurers charging the elderly as much as five times more than the young.

The bill actively benefits the ultra-wealthy, giving the richest Americans, a $200,000 dollar tax cut while we struggle to make ends meet.

The amended bill lets people with pre-existing conditions get overcharged until they can no longer afford insurance.

Why was the GOP so eager to avoid a new CBO score? Why was Elise willing to vote without assurance that his was a better plan? Don’t look at her office or Facebook answers, they still don’t seem to know. I say we repeal and replace Elise, next.
