Opinion: City needs to reign in spending habits, says Heuvelton resident

To the Editor:

I no longer live in Ogdensburg (for good reasons) but I was still born there and still have a certain loyalty to the city.

But unfortunately I see nothing being done to slow down their expenses or even try to live within their own budgets.

We have no solid waste free pickup in this area, ever, and do very well without it. The city should start to reign in their expenses though, and until they stop borrowing money ten million dollars at a time and wasting it like drain water, they need to start living within their budgets now!

I have not yet seen any evidence they are doing anything but sitting on their thumbs to fix their awful credit rating and the constant increases in property taxes to move toward a useful budgeting process; they seem instead to simply be sitting and allowing the world to collapse in on them.

This is a terrible situation and shows the true colors of the powers that be around there. It's too bad.
