Regarding “Opinion: Shame on corporations for overcharging for gasoline, Canton woman says”: While there is some merit to the concern, if any anger is to be directed to anyone, start with New York State that taxes of 45.6 cents per gallon of gasoline.
Added to the federal tax of 18.4 cents per gallon, that amounts to .64 cents per gallon, nearly three times the difference between St. Lawrence and Jefferson county gas prices.
