To the Editor:
In response to the NorthCountryNow.com online article by Paul Hetzler: “Some Shrubs Provide Welcome Color in North Country, Even in Winter,” I share your pain with the bleak landscape having 50 shades of gray and brown this time of year.
After reading your intriguing article from yesterday, I was inspired to take a walk through the back yard today and capture a few remnants of color that you might enjoy.
The deer around my house tend to ravage the tender shoots of the red dogwood and arrowwood to the point they never grow back; so, I limit myself to only cutting back the lilacs. Hang in there.
The cherry and lilac blossoms, ferns, and lady slippers are right around the corner.
