Operations Warm nets over 100 coats for kids in Massena

To the Editor:

Massena Permanent Fire Fighters passed out 48 coats to the Boys and Girls of the Massena Head Start Program in December. There were many little smiling faces when the little ones received their own personalized jackets from Operation Warm.

With the communities help, we were not only able to reach our $2,000 goal, but double the goal that we had set. This allowed us to purchase 72 more coats to distribute throughout the Massena Central School System and for those that need them in the event of a fire.

We’re grateful for caring people like you. Your gift to Operation Warm gives a child their own personal, brand-new winter coat. You’ve done much more than keeping children warm throughout the winter months – you’ve made them feel valued, respected, and supported. Thank you!

For many children, this may be the FIRST brand new coat they’ve received! You provided them with protection from the elements while walking to school, or waiting for the bus. And not only that, you infuse children with pride and self-esteem, which helps them fit in with their peers and concentrate in class.

When you give a child a coat, they are so very appreciative. Their smiles are priceless. You keep them warm inside and out.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to those that helped support the program, for giving children more than warmth, but also a boost to their academic learning, self-esteem, and health! Thank you for keeping our kids safe and warm and making them smile.

We would also like to personally thank SeaComm Federal Credit Union, United Steelworkers (USW) Local 420-A, IBEW Local 1249, Jefferson, Lewis & St.Lawrence Counties Central Trades & Labor Council, and Italian Amer Civic Association of Massena Inc for sponsoring the event and making it possible. We hope to continue to grow the program, and we can't do it without your help!! If you are still interested in making a donation, there is still time!! Visit https://give.operationwarm.org/events/-/e107022 or you can mail or drop off donations to the Village of Massena Fire Department, 34 Andrews Street.

We would also finally, like to thank Daily Courier-Observer, WWNY-TV, 7 News/Fox 28, NorthCountryNow.com, and 101.5 The FOX - Real Classic Rock for helping us spread our programs message throughout the area!!

Credit for the Pictures goes to our Friend Bob Beckstead of the Daily Courier-Observer!! Thanks Bob!
