To the Editor:
This year five local businesses donated money and food to YCC for their Recognition Ceremony and Picnic.
The picnic was held on Aug. 10 at Barnhart Beach in Massena.
The crews and employees of YCC attended to celebrate their work over the summer and to participate in the YCC Captain’s Cup Competition.
The event featured the Dizzy Bat Race, Ladder Golf, Kan-Jam, Tug of War, and a Watermelon Eating Competition.
In the end, Ogdensburg broke the tie with Potsdam for first place when they won the Watermelon Eating Competition.
The crew earned the title and was presented with the Captain’s Cup.
The picnic would not have been possible without the donations from the various businesses in St. Lawrence County.
YCC would like to thank the following businesses for their generous donations: Hannaford in Massena, Wal-Mart in Massena, Price Chopper in Canton & Massena, and BJ’s Wholesale Club in Massena.
The businesses donations provided hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, condiments, chips, paper plates, cups, napkins, plastic silverware, charcoal, and lighter fluid to this event.
The YCC members enjoyed the cookout and had great time.
The Recognition Ceremony and picnic is important to YCC, and the organization would like to thank all five businesses for their contributions to this year’s event.
