To the Editor:

Next Tuesday, we will be voting for our next mayor, and there is no one better to serve in that capacity than my fellow city councilor, Wayne Ashley.

I am proud to give my full support and endorsement to Wayne, and was happy when he made the decision to run for mayor, carrying the torch as the next mayor of the City of Ogdensburg.

I have known Wayne for over three decades, and have had the privilege and honor to work side by side with him over these past four years as a member of city council. I can attest that Wayne works very hard as a fellow city councilor, and I know he will continue that hard work as mayor.

He has done an outstanding job as a member of city council, is well versed on all city issues, and he has the experience and positive attitude we need to lead us for the next four years.

He thoroughly studies the issues, gathers all pertinent facts and information to make an informed decision, and most importantly, his focus is always on the citizens of Ogdensburg.

Wayne is civic minded and can be counted on to attend the various events we as elected officials are invited to in the community. Wayne does not attend these events simply to be seen, he attends because he cares and wants to make a difference. Over this past year, Wayne represented me at several events, and I can say he always represents me and out city in the best light, making us proud.

Wayne has character traits we need in our mayor; honesty, dedication, compassion, and a desire to serve and give back to his community; a community he loves and has lives in his entire life, and a community he has served for over 40 years.

He has serve our citizens with honor, distinction, dignity, and integrity, not becayse he has to, or for political reasons, but because he wants to. His reason was simple: to make Ogdensburg the best place it can be. And through those year of service, who could forget Wayne, dressed as Santa Claus delivering packages to 100’s of families throughout our community at Christmas, doing so to ensure every child woke up to gifts under the tree.

Through his co-chairing of Heart to Heart, this act of kindness touched the lives of thousands of children over the years. Or who could forget Wayne serving as a sergeant in our police department, ensuring the safety of our community and helping our citizens in need?

Wayne has the proven experience and leadership skills to be our next mayor. We need honest, dedicated, experienced and capable people on city council, and Wayne is the right person to lead the charge.

So please join me in voting for Wayne Ashley as our next mayor. He has earned our support.
