Ogdensburg Amvets Auxiliary flea market a success

To the Editor:

On Saturday, April 9, AmVets Ladies Auxiliary Post 19 in Ogdensburg held their annual Spring Fling Flea Market, Craft and Bake Sale. It could not have been such a huge success without the assistance and generosity of the following:

Advertising - Newswatch 50; Merz (radio stations); The Ogdensburg Journal and Advance News; North country Public Radio; Watertown Daily Times; WWNY TV; Fourth Coast Entertainment Magazine; The Prescott, Canada Journal; News 10 Now; FaceBook members who posted the event; Time Warner Cable and Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers who graciously donated the huge banners.

Assistance - Charlene Romano, our Ladies Auxiliary President, who gave me free reign and helped me immeasurably when my husband’s surgery took us out of state, Audrey Harper, whom I can always depend upon for anything I need; Lane Hazelton, Jordin Hazelton and Linzilee Hurteau who always show up to help carry in and out the vendors’ wares and help me with the tables; Sue O'Marah, my friend indeed; all those who contributed to the Bake Sale, St. Jude's Foundation Fund Raiser; The Garage Sale Table; and most especially to the men of the AmVets who gave us the huge hall for the day, Richard Rapin and Chris Bressett who cooked for and contributed the Soup and Sandwich Luncheon and manned the concession stand and to all the ladies of the auxiliary who showed up to assist - if I try to name you all, I know I'll miss someone but I want you to know it couldn't have happened without you and your willingness to put forward the labor necessary to make your auxiliary functions a success. Vendors: thanks to everyone who purchased tables. My deepest regards and thanks to everyone. And last but not least, to my husband for putting up with all the necessary stuff while he recuperated from triple by-pass. He's always there to answer the phone, deal with questions when I'm not home and take innumerable messages for me. You helped make this a success as well.

Linda Hurteau
