NYSARC needs more family volunteers

To the Editor:

As a parent of a person with a disability, I’ve been honored to serve on the Board of Directors of St. Lawrence NYSARC for 17 years.

During this time, I have seen our services expand to include all ages and types of disabilities.

On behalf of our organization, I am asking friends, family, and the community to support our mission by becoming members.

St. Lawrence NYSARC has many programs to offer including educational opportunities, supported living, family support, children’s programs, therapeutic services, employment, and day services.

My hope is that these services and more will continue to be available to my daughter and others who could benefit from the organization’s compassionate and professional services. There is tremendous need!

St. Lawrence NYSARC is guided by parents and family members of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

We share a common goal in ensuring our loved ones receive the best possible services. We support our children, each other, and our staff, which is particularly difficult during these hard economic times.

A strong membership has the potential to significantly impact our elected officials and funding sources. There IS strength in numbers!

Membership is just $5 for each person annually.

Please help us strengthen our efforts by becoming or renewing a membership with St. Lawrence NYSARC by Sept. 9, 2011.

You can become a member now at www.slnysarc.org, check us out on Facebook, or contact Josie Thomson at 379-9531 for more details.

If you have already become a member - thank you. We appreciate your support.
