Norwood-Norfolk-Raymondville Outreach Program seeks donations from community

To the Editor:

Since its creation in 1972, the Norwood-Norfolk Raymondville Outreach Program has assisted thousands of community members by providing warm clothes, food and toys. Margaret Call, the program’s first outreach aid, was instrumental in establishing the program to serve low income families, children and elderly.

In the spirit of the holiday season, and in support of what Mrs. Call began more than 40 years ago, the Norwood-Norfolk Raymondville Outreach is asking for your help to assist our neighbors who will find it difficult to keep their families warm and comfortable this winter.

Please take a moment to moment to consider what amount you would be comfortable donating, regardless of size. If you would like to volunteer your time, please contact a board member listed below for more information.

We are pleased to announce that we are not tax exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501. Donors can deduct contributions they make to us under IRC Section 170. We are also now qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts.

Through the generosity of our communities toys, food, school supplies and vouchers were distributed to 326 individuals (including 111 families and 128 children) in last year’s effort alone.

Items shared through this program included gifts of new and gently used toys for children and teens; Christmas food boxes of non-perishable, fresh fruits, vegetables and turkeys, warm winter, hats, mittens and emergency assistance if needed.

Monetary donations can be mailed to Mickey McKenna, 43 Spring St., Norwood, NY 13668. For more information, please call Mickey at 353-2896.

Members of this Outreach board include Maurice and Laura Fullerton, Patricia Martin, MaryJane Purves, Mickey McKenna, Marcia Murray, Kelly Lustyik, Laurell Brault, Tracy Chase, Barbara Lustyik, and Judy Chagnon.
