Norwood-Norfolk Central student recommends criminal justice program at Seaway Tech

To the Editor:

My name is Chora Young and I am a senior at Norwood-Norfolk High School attending the criminal justice program at Seaway Tech.

The criminal justice program was my choice because I was undecided of what career path to take after high school. Being a high honors student, balancing extracurricular activities, and taking on this class have really helped me to prepare for the future.

Being a student leader increased my interest to focus on helping others and becoming the kind of person you want other people to be. The criminal justice program is not the same as some typical high school classes because it is very hands on.

Becoming certified as a security guard, learning the basics of the law enforcement systems, self-defense tactics, handcuffing techniques, crime scene investigations and other relevant skills in the field are a few examples of what I have learned.

As I have noticed with many of my peers, Seaway Tech allowed us to step out of our comfort zone, meet other people, and doing things we normally wouldn’t do.

I highly recommend the criminal justice program to any eleventh and twelfth graders who have interest in the law enforcement field. Attending the program has guided me to have more knowledge of what career path to take after graduation.
