New recycling system a welcome change

To the Editor:

Although I can see how Mr. Bonner is frustrated about dragging an extra container to the curb (although with the current garbage can and two recycling bins it’s actually the same amount, I have one for metals and plastics and one for paper, not sure why you only use one) I think it is wonderful that we are getting newer and more up to date recycling receptacles, and all my neighbors who I have spoken to in the village are just as happy.

I cannot tell you how many times all my paper recyclables were left at the curb by the pick up men because they were drenched from the rain and therefore not eligible for pick up, these new receptacles will eliminate that.

Also, like many village residents, I do not have a garage and leave my recycling containers on the porch. Because of this, neighborhood dogs and other animals will often come up to our porches and many of us wake up to cans and other recyclable food packages being strewn all over our lawns, again these new containers will eliminate this because they will have lids.

Because we have to buy stickers to put on our trash bags and for environmental reasons my family and I try to recycle everything we can and compost, less stickers equal less money spent.

The current bins are just too tiny to hold everything, again these new containers will eliminate this. I already lug out three containers every week but now I don’t have to deal with any of the other frustrations. This is not just an improvement for Casella but also for me and my lawn!

I myself am looking forward to these new containers.
