To the Editor:
I’ve decided not to be the 2014 Norwood July 4th parade chairman. Local politics have brought a lack of interest on my part, causing me to make this difficult decision.
During the past eight years, I have enjoyed making the Norwood July 4th parade the largest community parade in northern New York.
Even though I have not been an active Norwood Volunteer Fireman for the past 30 years, I have been a big promoter of the Volunteer Fire Service as a member of the Norwood Brass Firemen’s Band for 45 years and its’ manager for the past 37 years.
Next year’s parade will be organized by a committee within the Norwood Vol. Fire Depart. The parade Chairperson will be Laurie Swaney at 261-3369 .
I hope that all organizations and groups from past parade years will continue to be a part of the Norwood July 4th parade celebration.
I have enjoyed organizing this parade for the past eight years and will miss my personal contacts with everyone.
Please remember that you and your organization made this July 4th parade what it is, I only organized it.
Please give Laurie and her committee the same support that you gave to me.
