To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to thank the constituents of the Madrid-Waddington Central School district for electing me to the Board of Education. I realize it can be difficult to take a chance on a new face and I am thankful to the 241 voters who did just that.
I would like to thank my family for their support. My husband, Peter, pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to go door to door to introduce myself.
As a parent, I used this opportunity to teach my children introduction to politics and the lifelong lesson that success is dependent on effort. My children Colby, 5 and Alex, 3 helped me to campaign by going door to door, making signs, wearing t-shirts of their own design, and baking cookies for our biggest supporters.
I’m appreciative to everyone who voted, shared a kind word on my behalf, and welcomed me into their home. I look forward to officially joining the board in July and having the opportunity to serve the district.
