Nelson has earned respect and experience

Election Day is fast approaching. I urge residents to be cautious when deciding on the vote for Mayor. I want a Mayor whom is experienced, committed to our City and who has proven himself. Bill Nelson earned his respect and experience by climbing up the political ladder.

He did not jump into Mayor. Bill joined the City Council, where he became familiar with its practices. It was only when Bill was knowledgeable about the job that he ran for Mayor. Do we want an inexperienced politician taking over our City at a time when the economy is so shaky? Experience is key! The only candidate who meets all of these requirements is Bill Nelson.

After a recent drive through the City, I can honestly state I see firsthand positive changes over the past 4 years. A great asset is the Dobisky Center. This was exactly what our local economy needed.

The building is getting use from local citizens as well outsiders. Canadian boaters as well as our own community members use our Dobisky Center during the boating season. This brings revenue to our city.

The clean up on Shade Roller and Diamond National are wonderful achievements. The Mayor is correct in stating that once these properties are sold to developers this will benefit the tax payers of the community.

I have seen great improvements on Ford Street and Main Street as well. Ford Street is one of the most important streets in our city; Bill has made it a priority to improve its looks. This type of economic growth takes expertise and time.

It often requires filtering through the red tape to get things done. Mayor Nelson has proven to me he can lead us to the final goal.

We as voters cannot blame someone for the mistakes of others. It is at this time, we need to look at what Bill Nelson has done to correct the unfortunate situation on Knox Street. Who initiated the investigation on Knox Street? It was Bill Nelson.

Who took time out of his own schedule to begin reviewing the documents to speed the process? It was Bill Nelson.

Who has allowed the citizens of Ogdensburg to speak their minds at the past several council meetings not knowing what would be said? It was Bill Nelson. This open form of government is refreshing.

It is prudent to point out that the City of Ogdensburg’s fiscal standing is good. We are not in a crisis as our County government is. This demonstrates the City has been conservative in its spending. I for one want to continue this mindset.

Vote for Bill Nelson, Tuesday, Nov. 8.
