Negative time and energy could be better spent, says South Colton woman

To the Editor:

Concerning the toilets belonging to Frederick “Hank” Robar, I am amazed at the number of people who are suddenly interested in what has become known as “Potty Town USA.” I am wondering why, now the sudden interest in Hank’s toilets?

Those toilets have been on display for well over ten years. Hank, it seems, is becoming a very popular person of interest. Some people are in favor of his display and there are some who seem to be in a rage over his display of art. Art comes in many forms. To some is please, yet to others it is distasteful. Guess that is matter of personal preference? To each their own.

I hear there are people from out of town, as far away as Canada, who are interested in viewing his creativity, and even taking pictures of the sites of interest. Seems to me this would be a good thing especially if they should stay and shop or eat in the localities; seems it may help boost the economy and that wouldn't be a bad thing I presume? Perhaps in time, even more will come to shop at “Potty Town USA.”

It seems Hank is being subjected to a lot of ridicule, of which is totally unprofessional to say the least.

He should not have to explain his actions. He is well within the law. Right is right and wrong is wrong; the laws are clear on that. Sometimes, if your lucky there may be shades of gray, but for the most part the laws stand firm. I say if he were not within the law, I am sure this issue would have been settled long before now.

Where is the justice in all of this? Hank’s personal property has been stolen, his name has been ridiculed, and he has been scrutinized and harassed. He has been told he is acting like a child, perhaps not behaving as you may expect him to? Yet by who’s standards do you set your behavior by?

I have heard many names thrown about, such as: revengeful, bitter, hurtful, disgusting, a waste of time and energy and even hypocritical.

Many say there is no humor in this, I beg to differ. This is totally hilarious; I’ve never laughed so much. Although it is totally ridiculous that those are saying negative things about Hank; it also seems those same people are treating him the same way.

I ask, who truly is behaving as a child?

As for who should have done this, or who should of done that…seems that should be solely between Hank and village officials.

I say to those who find Hank’s art distasteful…that is ok…you have your opinion and you’re free to feel that way. Likewise, for those who happen to like his art. Thanks to God and to the many who have died to give us that freedom today.

I believe for every problem there is a solution, and for every dark side there is a light that shines. The answer would seem, lies within yourself. Perhaps, who knows, maybe there could be a movie made about “Potty Town USA.”

My suggestion, stop zigging and sagging get off the pot, throw your bath robe down and decide whether or not you want to continue to better your lives in and around Potsdam and therefore use your apparent 9,000 supporters and their $22,000 of contributions to better help the village by perhaps donating to the hospital, fire department, school, animal shelter and libraries.

The money, I believe would be more beneficial to those parties than to use in simply flushing it down the sewer drains, just my opinion.

If only this time and energy could be better spent.

Perhaps there will be a movie featuring Hank Robar and his “Pots of Gold” at the end of a rainbow in “Potty Town USA.” Imagine the money that could be made for Potsdam and everyone.

Shouting hurray for Hank and “Potty Town USA.”

Thank you cousin Hank for standing firm in your beliefs.
