Musicality event raises more than $1,600

To the Editor:

I would like to say thanks to all those who volunteered their time to help with Musicality program.

This event was conceived when Community Action Angels advertised in July 2012 for young people to submit projects that they could do to support their communities as part of the Kids are Key program.

I submitted my idea and was chosen to receive $100 in seed money to put my plan into action. My event was called “Musicality” and proceeds from the program were to go to the Parishville Hopkinton Central School music program.

It was held on October 6, 2012 at the Town of Parishville Recreational Park Pavilion. The weather was cold and rainy but that did not stop our event from going forward.

We had a successful day with many community members coming out to support our event. We had door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, an auction organized by Parishville AMVET Post 265 Ladies Auxiliary, novelties, bake sale, Rosies Hawg Dogs, St. Lawrence Valley Roasters coffee, a classic car show, music lessons and entertainment.

Our entertainment was provided by Jack Kelley’s Little Big Band, Amanda Mason, Richard Wickwire, Ed McCarthy, Brad Laddison, Shawn Reed, Kathy MacKay, Emily Johnson, Clara Maine, Lori White & Lori Knowles and Nick Rycroft.

I am proud to present Our Music Department with $1681.24 and music instrument repair kits valuing $270.

If you know anyone who missed out on donating to our cause all future donations can be sent into the following address: Parishville Hopkinton Central School, ATTN: Music Department (Musicality Program), PO Box 187, School Street, Parishville, NY 13672.

I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and resources to help make Musicality a success. Community Action Angels and the Kids are Key program offer that initial incentive to get young people involved in their community. I encourage you to look into these programs. To all my community friends and neighbors thank you again for coming out today.

I would like to acknowledge those who volunteered either their time, resources or donated items for this program. Your contributions were all very much appreciated

Amanda Mason, Colton
