Most in Potsdam Town like things as they are

I am a 35-year resident of Potsdam, 17 years inside of the village and 18 years outside.

I moved outside the village because of the high taxes and didn’t care about getting the supposed perks that village residents get, and I still don’t.

I think a goodly amount of town residents don’t want Town Police, brush pickup or sidewalk plowing, which by the way, most of us don’t have anyway.

I know that the village residents will save with this dissolution, but I know for a fact that there are a lot of residents on a fixed income and that could not pay for higher taxes.

I think that if it happens you will see quite a number of homes going on the market, mine being one of them.

The thing is we feel we are getting the short end of the stick here, and I know I for one will attend the town meetings when they start.

It’s bad enough that the county is crying poor now and wants to get rid of the sheriffs; why don’t they look at the raises they just gave themselves and possibly give some back to help offset the shortfall.

I really think they could save money other ways and not keep the special interests happy.

It’s about time the main focus is on the taxpayers and keeping them in their homes, not to raise everything so they have to leave.
