The Morley Library Association extends thanks to all who helped make the second annual Morley Community Summer Festival and the open houses such a success.
The lucky winners of the raffle announced during the Festival were Art Quackenbush winning the SLU season hockey tickets and Paula Bertrand winning the $100 Price Chopper gift card. Roberta Dominie won the $100 lottery tree, while Marsha Tavernier was the winner of the quilter’s basket. Other winners drawn included Glenna Beaulieu for the bicycle, Mary Rayburn, a $50 Avon gift certificate and Kristen Smith, the gift basket from Stone Valley Gift Shop.
The proceeds of the raffle and the Ice Cream Social will help fund the on-going renovations being made to the Morley Library while the proceeds from food served by the Morley Fire Department on Friday and the pancake breakfast at the Morley Wesleyan Church on Saturday will help those organizations fund their various activities.
The Morley Community Summer Festival was expanded this year with activities on Friday afternoon and evening and on Saturday morning, with good food, music, vendors, demonstrations and informational booths, and children’s activities. The Morley Library, the Heritage Grist Mill and the Morley Wesleyan Church hosted open houses, giving local residents an opportunity to tour these historic buildings.
Plans are already underway to make next years festival bigger and better, involving local and area groups and businesses in a true community event.
