Morley festival big success, says committee

To the Editor:

Morley was a busy place last weekend, with the entire community coming together to make the annual Morley Community Summer Festival a big success.

It was great to see so many old friends and newcomers coming together in Morley to enjoy the day.

Thanks go out to everyone, from the committee who worked long and hard to plan and organize the activities and events for the festival, to the MLA members who worked at the ice cream social, the sleepover, the mini-book sale, the tour at the Chapel and the history display and slideshow at the library, to the fire department for the great food on Friday night and the chicken barbecue on Saturday, and for the use of their hall, the Grist Mill Assoc. for their tour and the Wesleyan Church for the pancake breakfast.

Special thanks to the Charlton Brothers for the music, the Dairy Princesses, and the Noteworthy Handbell Choir. Thanks for the special appearance by the Bush donkeys, the vendors who joined in, the donors for prizes for the raffle. Extra special thanks to Paul and Roberta Evans for opening the Chapel for the day and to our Library Manager, Agnes Hoey for spending her Saturday morning showing what we hope will be the first of many movies on the Smart Screen at the Morley Library.

With so much happening throughout the hamlet, it is difficult to remember and thank everyone who took part - if we overlooked someone, we apologize. It is not intentional and the festival could not have happened without all of the folks who had a part in making this year’s Morley Community Summer Festival a day to be remembered.
