More than 150 attend Dig In! conference

To the Editor:

The Dig In! Food and Garden Conference, held on March 19, 2012 in Potsdam and presented by the Health Initiative, was attended by over 150 individuals from around New York State. The Health Initiative offers a hearty thank you to the local and regional organizations that allowed this event to be a great success.

We are grateful to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, the Featured Fennel Sponsor, for their strong support of this event which offered innovative, effective strategies for building healthy, secure and connected food systems. We thank Golden Gourd Sponsors-Clarkson University, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and Siemens Industries; Silver Squash Sponsors-Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, E.J. Noble Hospital, Massena Memorial Hospital, and NOFA-NY; Bronze Beet Sponsor-Potsdam Food Co-Op & Carriage House Bakery; and Honorable Habanero Sponsors-Hands on Health Holistic Healing, Nature’s Storehouse, NY Agriculture in the Classroom, and PACES at SUNY Potsdam. Resources from the Dig In! Conference will be available to the public in mid- April at our agency website, gethealthyslc.org. We invite anyone interested to utilize these materials to help make healthy food choices easier, more accessible and enjoyable for all.
