Merger votes could be coming to other districts

An interesting school merger vote. I wonder, how many kids in these schools who are eligible to vote did vote. I wonder how many parents voted who want their kids to play sports. I wonder how many people who voted in these school districts do not own property.

I live in the Norwood - Norfolk school district and I feel like I have been hollering to the wind. Folks, We need to read the writing on the wall. These school merger votes may be coming to many of our school districts and however they turn out, the landowners are going to pay for it.

Let me give what I think are some common sense solutions,

1) People who do not own property should not be eligible to vote on these budgets.

2) Parents who want their kids to play sports should pay for them to play. Let these people pay cost to belong to section ten. Let them pay bus drivers their wages for bussing them. Let them pay for the fuel to bus them. Let them pay some of the schools electric bill for using school electricity. Let them pay for the coaching salaries. Let them pay for the upkeep on all of the equipment they use. Let them pay for any monies incurred because of extra insurances the school has to buy. Let them pay.

3) We are running our schools during the most expensive time of the year. Run school during the summer and shut the school down during the winter months. Think about how much money we could save in high heating bills as well as high electric bills.

These are the hard choices we need to make, If we don’t, we will all be taxed out of our homes, remember the land owners are footing the bill.

These next school budgets for Canton and Potsdam are going to be interesting.
