To the Editor:
The Democratic primary has completed and the results placed me short of the needed votes to make the ballot as a Democrat. The total votes cast were a bit over 200 or about 8% of the eligible voters. Wow. Welcome to the reality in politics.
Today is a new day. I have announced that I will continue to run for Potsdam town councilman as a write-in candidate.
No one has ever won our local election as a write-in, but I want my message to continue as it is a viable avenue for growth, blending of governments, and helping us unite as a community.
I have no qualms about pressing on with my campaign to the November elections. I believe in the vision and the direction. It also is very healthy for our local politics.
I will continue to campaign and I urge our voters to come out in numbers for the November election.
Vote for change and a strong vision. Vote for Eric J. Matott.
